Brantford, On- Federal New Democrat Candidate Marc Laferriere held the first ever virtual press conference for Brant Riding this morning to launch his local Job Creation Strategy.
The strategy available to the public (see above or click here ) outlines practical solutions to some of the job creation challenges faced in Brant Riding. During the press conference Laferriere highlighted ideas that would bring fairness to small business, help provide meaningful resolution to Land Claims/Land Right’s issues, create an independent Jobs Commissioner and bring innovation to the riding.
He also highlighted the need to ensure quality jobs in the area and provided practical solutions on that front.
“We tackle the issues head on. We need positive and practical solutions not potshots. The community has been challenging Federal politicians of all stripes to bring new and innovative job creation ideas to this campaign. That’s a challenge we gladly accept,” said Laferriere.
“We have a great community here. Yes, there have been some difficulties but we also have very unique opportunities. We should be an innovation leader, an arts and tourism hub and a model for other similar-sized ridings and we can be.”
Laferriere also invited the community to help shape the vision of the strategy by introducing the “Brant Riding Jobs Challenge” where you can have your say by visiting brantmarc.ca/jobs and engaging in a dialogue.
“This isn’t a one way discussion and this isn’t a final document. We want your ideas moving forward. If we are going to re-brand Brant Riding for the next century we need to do it together with ideas from everyone and everywhere.”
Laferriere the originator of the popular Local Ideas Listening Tour concluded by saying, “We find our best ideas when we listen to the public. It’s empowering to find community solutions through community engagement.”
