Brantford, ON – Brant NDP Federal Candidate Marc Laferriere is encouraging everyone to take some time this weekend to educate themselves about the issues and candidates ahead of Monday’s 2010 municipal election vote.
“There are a lot of important issues that need to be addressed in our community at all levels of government,” said Laferriere. “We need to make sure that we elect candidates who best represent your views on how to move Brantford and the County of Brant forward.”
Candidates will be spending this final weekend of the campaign pounding the pavement to speak with members of the community in pursuit of the votes that will ensure they capture a seat at the table following Monday’s vote. With that in mind, Laferriere encourages everyone to take the time to answer the knock at the door from the candidates and to ask them about the issues that matter to you.
“Each candidate, in every race, offers a perspective on how to improve our community in the next four years,” commented Laferriere. “Ask about the issues that matter to you, research the candidates, check out their profiles in the local media, visit their web sites and make an informed choice at the polls on Monday.”
Polling stations in Brantford and the County of Brant will open at 10:00am on Monday, and will be open until 8:00pm. Further information regarding polling stations, candidates, and wards can be found at the City and County websites at www.brantford.ca and www.brant.ca respectively.
“You have the right to cast your ballot to help choose the person who should represent you on Council, and on the school board,” remarked Laferriere. “Don’t take that right for granted, be aware, be informed, be a voter.”
Once voting is complete at 8:00pm Monday, tune in to Rogers TV’s broadcast of Your Local Campaign, where Marc will appear as a special guest panelist to provide his insight on the 2010 municipal election.
